Time to leave soon...I'm getting depressed just thinking about it!
I'm going to miss going to the baker's twice, sometimes three times a day to pick up a fresh baguette or pastry. I'm also going to miss the florists that line the walk to school and the metro as well. It makes me so sad to leave it all!
I think its going to be very different coming back to the States- everything here is small. Less is more, and I loved every second of it. Everything in the States is en masse from driving to shopping. Coming back it's going to be hard readjusting to the work obsession and fast paced life style. It'll be nice having things open 24/7 and immediately available any day of the week, but I could easily trade that for a relaxing day in Paris any day. It'll be hard readjusting to processed food and the slow progression to local eating, the hastened meals while eating out at restaurants and the excessive presence of chain stores. But Paris will always be there, and I plan on coming back.
Till then, it's all about the sunshine and the beaches as summer comes up very soon. Paris could use some more sunshine, and I'm definitely not feeling as claustrophobic with the lack of tall buildings and wide open skies of San Diego. Now I have a bunch of great memories to take back with me.
